Kira gets on very well with all my other pets due to being brought up with them all ,she enjoys rough doggy play and has a better recall than Benji (he often pretends to be deaf if he finds somthing interesting or wants to go and say hi to another dog) we have even been walking and seen deer running away from us and Kira has stayed beside me and just watched them
Kira does enjoy being center of attention and will playfully bite Benji's legs if he is getting more attention than her ,If Kira wants somthing she will let me know she makes her funny dog talking noises (like a dog version of the Charlie says cat from the old adverts) there have been a few times when she has even playfully bit my bum to get attention or bardging through my legs to make sure I cant miss her lol ,any visitors and Kira loves to say hi to them(as they say these dogs are no good as guard dogs as all she would do to a burglar is give them sloppy kisses
)
These dogs do not like to be left home alone ,it can help if they have another dog for company ,with my two though it isnt much help as Benji has separation anxiety ,so rather than risk them getting upset and the house being shredded ,If I am going somwhere I cant take the dogs I get them a doggy sitter or take them to my Mums house so they still have human company
The Northern Inuit Dog is very intelligent and can learn very well ,but it also means they can outsmart you too ,when Kira was still quite a small pup and nearly toilet trained ,I realised that she was being very cheeky ,she was taken out into the garden if she started to have an accident on the floor ,but she soon realised she could use this to her own means and if there was exciting things happening outside and she was being kept in out of the way she would delibratly start to pee on the floor as a way of getting outside to join in the fun ! just an example of how smart and cheeky these dogs are !
Kira is very affectionate and loves to snuggle up on the couch with us and she sleeps on my bed every night (thankfully I have a double bed to myself as she takes up half the bed now!)
Kira has always been very healthy and I have only had a couple of times of worry with her health
One was the day after her 2nd injection when she was only 10 weeks old ,she was not her bright playfull self that day and kept being sick if she tried to eat anything ,I called the vet and they thought it was just a tummy upset ,thankfully by the late evening she mannaged to eat some chicken and rice and the next day she was back to her normal self .
The second time was when she was 6 months old ,We were having our afternoon walk and Kira was chasing Benji as usual ,but she was too busy paying attention to Benji that she ran right into a small fence post ,she couldnt even get up and was obviously in pain ,thankfully I was near home so I had to wait about 10 mins with her before I heard the school bus dropping the kids home and I had to shout on them so they could stay with her while I called the vets out ,thankfully the vet came out quite quickly ,he had to poke and prod at poor Kira to find out what she had injured ,even when she was yelping in pain with the vet moving and feeling her ,she was so good and never once wanted to snap at this strange man making her sore ,the vet said she had displaced one of the disks in her back and it had also trapped the nerve to her leg ,she was given an injection to bring down any swelling and given a course of antiinflammatory pills ,we had to wait and see if it would fix its self of if she would need an operation ,she slowly made a complete recovery herself and after several weeks ,you would never have known she had hurt herself so badly ,it was so worrying at the time thankfully no permanent damage
I registered this Affix with the Northern Inuit Society as I plan on Kira being a Mum later this year ,She is healthy ,well balanced and of course a very gorgeous girl so she should have some lovely pups. I took ages to think of an Affix that we could use ,I chose the name Mooncloud as I love it in the still of the night when you can watch clouds slowly pass over the moon ,its almost magical and seems very fitting for these special dogs
We live in lovely countryside in the Angus area of Scotland , Please feel free to email me about anything
